Welcome to Aussie Woodwork

The beginning of the Aussie Woodwork story. A business grew from these small steps. It all began when I began learning to make soap.

I bought a few molds and found they did not suit my needs. so made a couple of my own using just a saw I had and some pieces of wood that were in the garage.
The result was not that good however it was on the right track of what was wanted so made a better pair with some refinements including the removable gate allowing for easy soap removal from the mold A new jack saw and learning to cut a straight line was a leap forward in a making better product. While learning to cut wood I also thought of making a cutter for the soap and came up with the design that suited my needs which complimented the mold.

The second attempt was much better and continued to use these molds for a number of years.
A fellow soap maker asked for a 2 molds, while making them thought about getting consistency in making the molds especially if there was a number to make. Purchased a Triton workbench and the improvement was truly significant. The quality improved to a to a standard I would buy, so began to sell them on eBay.
The rest they say is history. Over 400 molds have been sold on eBay alone. There is a gradual improvement programmed I follow, in that, if there is a better way to make the mold and or cutter those improvements will be made.

The H~Block is an example of this making the mold more versatile. A 1 Kg trial batch, or by using both compartments 2 x 1 Kg batches, move the H~Block to the back of the mold and you have a 2Kg batch, finally remove the H~Block and you have capacity up to 3 Kg Now you have 3 molds in one.
Wives are wonderful inspirational people to have around for many reasons. For example they “suggest” that you make a outside work table for her gardening. Ok said I after all Happy Wife = Happy Life. After the Garden work bench I made a new desk for my computer from some Tasmanian Oak and some Merbu decking donated by a friend. Love the result Other items apart from the molds and cutters., include a 4 tier shoe rack, 3 bedside tables, an entertainment unit for my daughter, an outside coffee / utility table, a portable small work bench incorporating draws for tools and jigs adjusted to also be an extension table for the table-saw, custom tables for the thicknesser, 6″ disc and belt sander, drill bench, plus the 900mm x 1800 work bench. This process is ongoing as my skill improve, my imagination becomes more creative. There will be lots more to come!
